Devin Denzel Davidson – Mr. Bowie State University 2012-2013

Briefly describe yourself.

Devin Davidson was born and raised in Maryland, initially starting his college career in pursuit of athletic accomplishments in football. A unique focus and attention to helping people reach their potential is what drives Devin, setting the groundwork for healthy, close-knit relationships. Although, Davidson has been raised predominantly by strong women he is very aware of the roles and responsibilities of being a strong man. Davidson believes the Bowie Man has been defined and that it is time for the world to see the full potential of Bowie students.

What organizations are you involved in?

Black Male Agenda

Why did you choose that particular organization?

There are certain things a mother cannot teach her son. Seeing positive black male figures and wanting to fill the void of father/older brother. Black Male Agenda provided me with wisdom and elders to look up to.

Why do you want to be Mr. Bowie?

I want to have an impact and being Mr. Bowie is the best possible way to influence people to reach their potential in me doing so and holding that position will leave a legacy. I have represented before as Mr. Sophomore, played my hand at Mr. Essence… I aimed higher and hope that will make everyone else aim higher as well.

What is your platform?

The Rise to Royalty: The Manifestation of the King. The Bowie Man has been defined in past years, this is the time to show the kingliness of Bowie Men.

How will you best represent the Bowie Man?

I will be represent the Bowie Man by getting them the exposure and recognition their hard work and dedication deserves.

What separates you from the current Mr. Bowie?

We both share many positive qualities and I believe what he is currently doing lays the foreground for what I plan to do.  I am a man of tact and timing, which is a defining quality between me and the current Mr. Bowie.

Who are your role models?

My Father he sacrificed to continue to provide for his family, I believe he is very proud of the man I’ve become since his death. My Mother, who is an excellent nurturing soul, raised two children by herself. My goal in life is to be successful so she can be proud of the life she brought into this earth.

How closely do you plan on working with the SGA and general student body?

I plan on working very closely with SGA and general student body because I represent them, and plan to reflect a unified student body within Bowie State University.

What are your future plans?

Public speaking, being active in the uplift of the black community.
